Yo Yo Class

The Yo Yo Quilt block dates back to 1920 with peak popularity from the 1920 to 1940's.  It is a great example of the Great Depression and using up scraps as they use small amounts of fabric.
It has the convenience of portability making it easy to take with you to sew as you wait in the doctors office or watching TV.
Individual yo yo's are made from round pieces of fabric gathered at the edge to form a small pouch.  The pouch is then flattened to form a disc-like shape then sewn on to a block to form a pattern.

Needless to say, she was hooked and hasn't stopped quilting since. Her first quilt show expereince this year earned her a "1st Place" on her Yo Yo Quilt and a "Best of Show" on her Vintage Plate quilt.
